As a native of Colorado, Steve has enjoyed living and working in Denver all his life. He is a practicing Catholic, devoted husband, and father of seven kids. He lives in Erie, CO.

Over the past twenty-four years, Steve has been designing, managing, coordinating, and providing a vision to parish projects across the nation.  He has worked on all scales of projects from baptismal fonts to basilicas.

As a native of Colorado, Steve has enjoyed living and working in Denver all his life. He is a practicing Catholic, devoted husband, and father of seven kids. He lives in Erie, CO and his family fills up two pews at St. Scholastica when we often attend mass there.

In 1999, Steve started his own design and visualization company, The Shepherd’s Workshop, LLC with the sole mission of  serving the Catholic Church in Her architectural and artistic endeavors. After a long career of serving the Church by helping parishes, architects, and ecclesiastical contractors, the company was renamed under Baker Architects, LLC with the commitment to further his efforts toward helping the Church. 

Over the past twenty-four years Steve has been designing, managing, coordinating, and providing vision to parish projects across the nation.  He has worked on all scales of project from baptismal fonts to basilicas. 

To the best of his knowledge, Steve is the only architect in the United States with a Ph.D. in Design and Planning. His dissertation and lifelong research is:

He is published in several scholarly journals such as, Sacred Architecture Journal and The Society for Catholic Liturgy’s Antiphon journal.

With his extensive experience of “fixing” and designing Catholic churches, Steve is humbly referred to as:
